Educational Qualification required for Income Tax Officer:

In order to apply for the Income Tax Officer Vacancy. The candidate must have an under graduation degree from any stream like Science, Commerce or Arts or any other stream, etc., or equivalent from any recognized university or college. One must have passed graduation from any Government Recognized College, Institute or University, etc. A candidate who is in the final year or final semester is also eligible to apply for the vacancy. There are no mark criteria that have been mentioned in the eligibility criteria or educational qualification section on the official notification. A candidate just needs to have pass graduation. 

Age Limit Criteria for Income Tax Officer:

The minimum age limit for the candidates who are willing to apply is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 30 years for those who come under the general category.  Those who come under OBC ( other backward classes ) are given age relaxation of 3 years i.e 21-33 years.  The candidates who come under SC/ST ( scheduled caste or tribe ) are given an age relaxation of 5 years. Those who belong to PWD classes are given an age relaxation of 10 years.

Physical and Medical requirement for Income Tax Officer:

As you may know that this is a fieldwork job as well as Office work etc. For the posts, One will have to medically and physically fit to be able to become an Income Tax Officer. There are some changes in Physical standards for male candidates and the Physical requirements of female candidates. Here are the complete details about this. 

  • Height must not be less than 157.5 cms
  • Chest 81 cms with fully expanded
  • Physical test of walking 1600 meters in 15 minutes
  • Candidates will be required to cycle 8 km in 30 minutes.

Physical Criteria for female candidates:

  • Height must not be less than 152 cms
  • Weight must not be less than 48 kgs
  • Physical test of walking 1 km in 20 minutes.
  • Cycling 3 km in 25 minutes.

There is no relaxation that has been given in the medical and physical tests. It will be the same for all categories of candidates. There might be some relaxation in height for the candidates who belong to Hilly Areas or Nothern Eastern region etc. Check the latest and Official notification. 

Income Tax Officer Selection Procedure:

There will be a two-phase examination and interview and physical and medical fitness. SSC CGL examination is divided into four-tier:-

  • Tier I – multiple choice type questions in online mode.
  • Tier II – multiple choice type questions in online mode.
  • Tier III – Descriptive type paper in English or Hindi ( Essay Writing, Application Writing, etc )
  • Tier IV – CPT ( Computer Proficiency Test ), Document verification, and skill test.

Exam Pattern of SSC-CGL Examination:

The SSC CGL tier I examination is of objective type which consists of two papers that are general intelligence and awareness and arithmetic. These two papers consist of 100 questions each with a weightage of 100 marks each. The duration for each paper is 2 hours. After clearing the SSC CGL tier I examination the candidates appear for the SSC CGL tier II examination where four papers are conducted, and paper I and Paper II are conducted on the same day.

  • The paper of general studies and English are conducted on the same day with 200 and 100 marks each and the time duration for each paper is 3 hours and 2 hours 20 minutes.
  • The Arithmetic paper is of 200 marks and for which the time duration is 4 hours.
  • The language paper is of 100 marks and time duration for which is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
  • The fourth paper is communication skills and writing carrying 200 marks with a time duration of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
