Required Eligibility Criteria for Horticulture Courses:

The required criteria for admission to the diploma course, bachelor’s degree and master’s degree are different. Here are the complete details about the required criteria for each course:

Diploma in Horticulture:

  • The candidate must have completed class 10+2 from any recognized board with an aggregate of 35% marks or more.
  • The minimum age is 15 and the maximum age is 22.
  • Special relaxation is given to the son/daughter of farmers.
  • The course duration is 2 years.

Bachelor of Science and bachelor of technology in agriculture:

  • The candidate must have class 12th certificate from Physics, Chemistry, Bio/math’s from any recognized board of India.
  • The duration of Bsc in horticulture is 3 years and the duration of BTech is 4 years.

Master’s of science, postgraduate diploma, Msc Ag. Horticulture:

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • The course duration for masters of science and Msc Ag. Horticulture is 2 years and postgraduate diploma courses are of 1 year.

Admission Process:

The Admission may be different as per the college and university. In order to get admission to the reputed college, you will have to appear for the entrance exam. Most of the reputed colleges conduct the entrance exam at the institute level. On the basis of the marks scored in the entrance examination, admission will be granted. The admission criteria differ as per the college.

Some private colleges also offer admission on the basis of the marks scored in the last qualifying examination. The Admission is granted on the basis of the marks scored in class 12th marks. Some non-reputed or private organizations colleges also offer direct admission to the course. The Admission is offered without any entrance exam, Interview or oral examination etc.
