The Process to Join Indian Naval Academy:

In order to join the Indian Naval Academy, one will need to clear the officer’s Selection process. There are many vacancies available after the 12th as well as after graduation etc. Right after passing class 12th, one can appear for the NDA Examination. After the graduation, CDS, INET and NCC Special Entry etc. here are the details about these entries:

  • NDA (National Defense Academy) Examination
  • CDS (Combined Defense Service) Examination.
  • INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)
  • NCC Special Entry etc

National Defense Academy Examination:

You can appear for this exam after passing class 12th. Further details regarding eligibility criteria have shared below. The Exam of NDA is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The Selection Process of NDA is Written Exam, SSB Interview and Medical Examination, Through this exam, One will get selected in the National Defense Academy, after three years of its training. you can choose the Indian Navy and can move to the Indian Naval Academy to become an Officer in the Indian Navy Service. let’s see the eligibility Criteria:

  • A candidate must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The age of the candidate should not be less than 16.5 years old and it must not be more than 19 years old on the date of commencement of the course.
  • There is no relaxation in age has been given to any particular caste, Religion or Community etc.
  • There is no Limited number of attempts. The exam is conducted twice a year. A candidate is free to attempt unlimited times till has an age under NDA criteria.

Combined Defense Academy: 

You can appear for this exam after Graduation. Further details regarding eligibility criteria have shared below. The Exam of CDS is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The Selection Process of CDS is the Written Exam, SSB Interview and Medical Examination, Through this exam, One can directly Join the Indian Naval Academy to become an officer in the Indian Navy Service.

  • Candidate must have passed graduation in any stream but must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The age of the candidate should not be less than 19 years old and it must not be more than 22 years old on the date of commencement of the course.
  • There is no relaxation in age has been given to any particular caste, Religion or Community etc.
  • There is no Limited number of attempts. The exam is conducted twice a year. A candidate is free to attempt unlimited times till has an age under CDS criteria.

Indian Navy Entrance Test: 

Indian Navy Selection Authority conducts this exam itself. A candidate can appear for this exam after passing graduation (BE or Btech). The Selection of the candidates will be done through the Written Exam (Computer-based Online Test), SSB Interview and Medical Examination etc. Through this entry, you can directly join the Indian Naval Academy and become an officer in the Service.

While in the NDA and CDS, YOu have an option to join the Indian Army as well as the Indian Air force etc. But through the INET Entry, you can join the Indian Navy only. Let’s see the eligibility criteria required to apply for this vacancy.

  • A candidate must have done Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of technology.
  • The candidate must have passed class 12th with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The age of the candidate should not be less than 18 years old and it must not be more than 24 years old on the date of commencement of the course.
  • There is no relaxation in age has been given to any particular caste, Religion or Community etc.
  • There is no Limited number of attempts. The exam is conducted twice a year. A candidate is free to attempt unlimited times till has an age under INET criteria.

NCC Special Entry:

There is no fixed schedule for this Entry. Sometimes the Indian Navy Selection Board releases the vacancy for the candidate who has done NCC and has an NCC C Grade certificate can apply for the NCC Special Entry. Under this entry, one will have to appear for Any written Exam, the Selection will be done through SSB Interview and then a medical Examination. This entry is available after the 12th as well as after graduation. The required eligibility criteria are the same as NDA and CDS etc.

if you are appearing after the 12th the eligibility criteria will be the same as NDA entry. If you are appearing after graduation, it will be the same as CDS Entry. So, these are the entries to join the Indian Naval Academy. one can also join the Indian Navy as an Engineer. How to Join Indian Naval Academy as an Engineer?

Indian Navy has a vacancy for a candidate who has done B.tech. can directly appear for the Indian Navy B.tech entry Scheme. Through this entry, One can join the Indian Naval Academy and become an Engineer in the Indian Navy Service. The Selection will be done on the basis of the marks scored in the JEE mains Examination. Here are the required eligibility criteria to apply for this vacancy:

  • A candidate who is in the final year or final semester of the B.tech is also eligible to apply for this entry.
  • A candidate must have appeared for the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Mains Examination.
  • A candidate must have passed class 12th with a minimum of 70% marks.
  • The candidate must have passed B.tech with a minimum of 50% marks.

The shortlist of the candidates for the SSB Interview will be done on the basis of the marks in the JEE mains Examination. If the marks of the two candidates would be the same, then it would be done on the basis of the marks of class 12th as well as marks in B.tech degree. All the shortlisted candidates will appear for the SSB Interview and candidates who would clear this will appear for the medical test which is conducted at the Indian Navy Hospitals.

Life at Indian Naval Academy:

In the Academy, candidates are trained to be a warrior. Cadets live their best life at the Indian Naval Academy. This is the academy where one gets transformed from a boy to a man. Despite having a very strict schedule of the training there are a lot many things like activities, clubs as well as different types of sports etc. At the Indian Naval Academy, one gets to train for at least 2 years. In the academy, one gets training about the duties, responsibility and about the Indian navy assets etc.  During the during, all the expenses of the candidates will be borrowed by the Academy. Even with the expenses, candidates will also be given some amount as a stipend. After two years of training at the academy, one will be posted in the Indian navy service as an Officer.

This academy is the dream of many youngsters but only a few make it. If you really want to join, you will need to do hard work. The Selection process is not that easy. Around lakhs of students appears every year but only a few get selected. Make sure that you have the ability to crack the exam on the first attempts. There are many coaching Academy that trains the candidates for the examination as well as for the Interview. You can join the Coaching to get trained well for the selection phases. But, it is not mandatory to join the coaching to clear the exam. There are many students who clear the selection without coaching or even with proper preparation.
